Following (1998)
After watching a majority of Christopher Nolan’s films, I finally saw his first film that in a neo-noir style.
Following is simply that— a man, a writer follows strangers to observe them as characters in his writing, until one of the strangers, who we learn later is Cobb, a burglar confronts him about his following and teaches him the tricks of the trade..
As it is a Nolan film, there are twists and turns that is his trademark style.
Christopher Nolan should do more black and white work, it’s beautiful. I could tell it was an earlier in the style, in it’s less complicated nature and more basic film techniques, but that is what I loved about it.
Definitely worth the watch as it is on Streaming and fascinating to see where he started with his directorial debut to his most recent feature is extraordinary.
