Big Time (1988)
Okay, this is a completely biased thoughts after. I adore the man, and I was in a Waits mood so I decided to watch this wonderful piece of film.
This is no “normal” concert film, it’s done with Tom, playing Tom, for a big show, carrying a light with him, with watches all up his arm, glasses and the little (somewhat porno-ish) stache, that well Tom can pull off excellently.
He tells his stories, jokes, advice (the favorite, “choke your bad days” which always can get me through bad days), his dancing, screaming, megaphone into the microphone and well his usual charm :)
From the unusual sets, costumes, and a rented out theater with him working the show and performing just makes it’s perfect.
I’ve always had a thing for cigarette and whiskey seasoned voices, my PaPa has a voice similar along with my outdoorsy Uncle who have odd stories to tell… something heartwarming for me.
I just love the man, and I don’t ever see that changing. PLEASE TOUR.
